Along with his position as full Professor of Public International Law, Andrea is Deputy Rector and Director of the Online Master in Electoral Policy and Administration (MEPA) at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa (SSSA).

Prominent figure within academia, he holds a number of top management positions on behalf of the SSSA, being both Director of the International Research Laboratory on Conflict, Development and Global Politics and Director of the DIRPOLIS Institute. Since 1996, Andrea is Director of Training Courses at SSSA, responsible for the design and delivery of various training activities, in partnership with international institutions such as UN, EU, OSCE and AU, and targeting civilian officers working in post-war reconstruction and in the humanitarian field, for an annual budget of more than 1,5 million Euros. During his more than 20 years of experience, he has been Director of several research and technical assistance projects in the field of disaster management, post-war reconstruction and humanitarian assistance, implemented in Guatemala, Colombia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somaliland, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Burundi, Central and Eastern European Countries.

Thanks to his widely recognized academic merits, Andrea has been visiting Professor in prestigious universities such as ENA-Paris (France), University of Hamburg (Germany), Kennesaw State University (USA), Universidad Rafael Landivar (Guatemala), University of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). He has been invited to participate in countless conferences and seminars worldwide, such as the Syracuse University (NY,USA), University of South Africa (Pretoria, RSA), University of Ghana, Royal Institute of International Affairs (London, UK), Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Medford, USA), Istituto Affari Internazionali (Rome), SIECA (Guatemala), Universidad de Cordoba (Argentina), Universidad Externado (Colombia), University of Addis Ababa, University of Hargeisa (Somaliland), St Augustine College (South Africa), and many more.
